Skin cancer as the name indicates is a form of cancer in which the skin cells grows up abnormally most often develops on skin exposed to the sun. But this common form of cancer also can occur on areas of the skin not ordinarily exposed to sunlight. Skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK and the number of people who get it is increasing. Skin cancer is a disease in which cancer (malignant) cells are found in the outer layers of your skin.There are three major types of skin cancer: basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Basal and squamous cell carcinomas are slow growing and highly treatable, especially if found early. Melanoma is the most serious form of skin cancer. It affects deeper layers of the skin and has the greatest potential to spread to other tissues in the body. The major cause of skin cancer is Ultraviolet or UV rays which comes from sun ,these can damage your skin,leading to skin cancer. other factors which also areto be considered are, your heredity and the environment you live in. However, both the total amount of sun received over the years, and overexposure resulting in sunburn can cause skin cancer. Most people receive 80% of their lifetime exposure to the sun by 18 years of age. The message to parents from this is to protect your children. Appearance of large brownish spot with darker speckles located anywhere on your body or simple mole which can change color and size etc or A small lesion with an irregular border and red, white, blue or blue-black spots on your trunk or limbs there may be dark lesions on your palms, soles, fingertips and toes, or on mucous membranes lining your mouth or a pearly or waxy bump on your face, ears or neck What are the causes of Skin Cancer ?
